Having grown up on a small farm in Illinois, "Dr. Dave" has always loved working with animals. He graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 1972 and soon after moved to the San Jose Bay Area, where he has been a vet for over 30 years! He enjoys giving back to the community, through low-cost vaccination clinics, speaking at local schools, and working with the Santa Clara County Sheriff K9 Unit. Recently, Dr. Reed was voted one of the Bay Area's Best Veterinarians in Bay Woof Magazine's Beast of the Bay Awards.
Beast of Bay Award Of Reed Animal HospitalDr. Reed enjoys spending time with his family, which include his wife, three children, a daughter-in-law, and two awesome grandsons. Not to mention his fur family: two English Bulldogs, Layla and Fenway and a feisty French Bulldog, Lincoln.
"I love Dr. Reed and his staff! Dr. Reed is an amazing and dedicated vet - he has been taking care of my animals for almost 20 years. He is an amazing doctor and has such a passion for his work; his practice is an art! ... Our Medical Director, Dr. Johnson, brings over 15 years of veterinary experience to Reed Animal Hospital. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2003 and has been working in general practice in the Bay Area ever since. Her professional interests include cases involving internal medicine and surgery of dogs, cats, and rabbits. She especially enjoys connecting with clients on a shared mutual interest - the human-animal bond and the maintenance of health and wellness of their pets.
Originally from Santa Cruz, Dr. Johnson continues to reside in her hometown with her family including her husband, two children, two cats Mittsy and Joey and their entertaining rescue dog, Cali. Outside of work, she enjoys gardening, hiking, running, swimming, international travel, and spending time with friends and family.

Dr. Mike Armer is a Bay Area native who practically grew up in a zoo: his family had dogs, rabbits, rats, hermit crabs, chickens, parakeets, lovebirds, and an aviary with about 80 canaries and finches!
He received his veterinary degree from UC Davis, where he focused on Small Animal and Avian/Exotics medicine. Dr. Armer recently moved to the south bay from Davis, CA to join Reed Animal Hospital. He brings with him an enthusiasm for preventative medicine, ophthalmology and surgery.
When he's not working, Dr. Armer enjoys the outdoors, photography, and spending time with his wife and two young sons. The current menagerie is two cats (Kaylee and Charlie) and a rescued mutt named Toby, with plans to expand when space allows.

From a young age, Dr. Shazia Jolissaint volunteered everywhere from her local small animal clinic to wildlife and marine sanctuaries, she loved the diversity. She received her bachelors in Marine Biology, and went on to earn her veterinary degree from Western University of Health Sciences. Having also completed a master’s in Public Health, she strongly believes in the One Health Initiative and preventing the spread of zoonotic diseases. Dr. Jolissaint ventured into holistic medicine by completing both the veterinary homeopathy program at the Pitcairn Institute for Veterinary Homeopathy, and getting certified in whole food nutrition formulation from WesternU. While working full time at Reed Animal Hospital, she is also currently a whole food nutrition formulator and consultant with the nutrition company Just Food For Dogs.
In her spare time, she loves spending time with her husband, son and daughter, her two cats, chinchilla, and leopard gecko.
