Our Team

Dr. David Reed
Campbell & Saratoga

Having grown up on a small farm in Illinois, "Dr. Dave" has always loved working with animals. He graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 1972 and soon after moved to the San Jose Bay Area, where he has been a vet for over 30 years! He enjoys giving back to the community, through low-cost vaccination clinics, speaking at local schools, and working with the Santa Clara County Sheriff K9 Unit. Recently, Dr. Reed was voted one of the Bay Area's Best Veterinarians in Bay Woof Magazine's Beast of the Bay Awards.

Beast of Bay Award Of Reed Animal HospitalDr. Reed enjoys spending time with his family, which include his wife, three children, a daughter-in-law, and two awesome grandsons. Not to mention his fur family: two English Bulldogs, Layla and Fenway and a feisty French Bulldog, Lincoln.

"I love Dr. Reed and his staff! Dr. Reed is an amazing and dedicated vet - he has been taking care of my animals for almost 20 years. He is an amazing doctor and has such a passion for his work; his practice is an art! ... He has that 'country doctor' charm that is endearing and real - he truly cares about animals and his clients." - Barbara K., San Jose

Dr. Shari Johnson
Campbell

Our Medical Director, Dr. Johnson, brings over 15 years of veterinary experience to Reed Animal Hospital. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2003 and has been working in general practice in the Bay Area ever since. Her professional interests include cases involving internal medicine and surgery of dogs and cats. She especially enjoys connecting with clients on a shared mutual interest - the human-animal bond and the maintenance of health and wellness of their pets.

Originally from Santa Cruz, Dr. Johnson continues to reside in her hometown with her family including her husband, two children, two cats Mittsy and Joey and their entertaining rescue dog, Cali. Outside of work, she enjoys gardening, hiking, running, swimming, international travel, and spending time with friends and family.

"I love this office! The staff is so helpful and understanding. Dr. Johnson is the best vet I've dealt with in a long time! I love her personality. Very gentle and compassionate." - Debbie R., San Jose

Dr. Amanda Anthony grew up in the Bay Area, just down the street from our Campbell hospital location! She graduated from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine where her focus was a small animal and exotic medicine. Dr. Anthony's professional interests include surgery, dentistry, and preventative medicine. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, exploring the outdoors, playing roller derby, and cuddling with her pets ("Darla" a little old Chihuahua, and "Diva" a sassy Siamese).

Campbell

Dr. Mike Armer is a Bay Area native who practically grew up in a zoo: his family had dogs, rabbits, rats, hermit crabs, chickens, parakeets, lovebirds, and an aviary with about 80 canaries and finches!

He received his veterinary degree from UC Davis, where he focused on Small Animal and Avian/Exotics medicine. Dr. Armer recently moved to the south bay from Davis, CA to join Reed Animal Hospital. He brings with him an enthusiasm for preventative medicine, ophthalmology and surgery.

When he's not working, Dr. Armer enjoys the outdoors, photography, and spending time with his wife and two young sons. The current menagerie is two cats (Kaylee and Charlie) and a rescued mutt named Toby, with plans to expand when space allows.

Dr. Amy Eberle
Campbell & Saratoga

A member of our Reed Animal Hospital team for nearly three years, Dr. Eberle grew up in the Bay Area and graduated from UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine with high honors. Her veterinary interests include geriatric medicine, internal medicine, and surgery. In her free time, you can find Dr. Eberle hiking, running, going to the movies, and most importantly, spending time with friends and family. Her current fur babies include Maddox, her Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, and her two cats, Osa & Omar. She looks forward to meeting you and your furry family members!

Dr Fiona Strange
Saratoga

Fiona graduated from the Royal Vet College, London in 2000 and started working in a small animal practice. In 2003 she bought the practice and in 2005 opened another. As the practices grew, she hired five more vets, and work kept her very busy!

Fiona loves to meet people and their pets. While many have passed through her practice doors and she has experienced a lot in general practice, she is most passionate about Ophthalmology. In 2018 she finally found time to sit further exams and Dr. Strange has completed the rigorous requirements to be recognized as an Advanced Practitioner in Ophthalmology by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, London.

Then, in 2019, Fiona relocated to California after selling her practices. Though heartbreaking to leave, she was ready for the next adventure. When her 3 children permit any spare time, she likes swimming, riding horses exploring the gorgeous California landscapes on a mountain bike.

Dr. Strange has joined Reed Animal Hospital, Saratoga for 2 days/week. She can also be contacted anytime with non-urgent questions at drstrange@strangeme.com
